Something like Mythic Realism
Just last night, bored from continuously reading about finances for a few months now, I picked up 'Colourless Tsukuru Tazaki' by none other than the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. I suddenly recalled glances of his book 'Kafka on the Shore,' which I read before COVID, and it was my first Murakami book. It was a gift from my secret Santa back in 2019. I was so engrossed in the book that I completed it in 10 days, which is a lot for a sporadic book reader like me. I tend to leave books halfway if they don't interest me, so this was something.
I instantly liked the way he described the two opposite stories walking parallel, chapter-wise; it almost blew my mind. Complete with graphics and extremely detailed imagery of both the good and the bad, this alluring realistic frictional story is entirely immersive and has compelling visuals, much like Kafka on the Shore.

PS: Which book have you found so engrossing and absorbing that you can still see the visuals?
